Roles & permissions

Everyone sees what their role allows.

Waiters run the floor, managers run the business. Voids, comps and discounts route through the people you authorise, and every action is recorded with its owner.

Why it matters

Loose permissions make for a loose end of day.

Picture a busy Saturday night. One table disputes half the bill, one waiter fired the wrong item, one guest is getting a comp. All three actions need an owner: who voided, who comped, who discounted.

In systems without permission boundaries those questions have no answer, and when the end-of-day report doesn't reconcile you don't know who to ask. In dojofood every action belongs to a user, and every critical action belongs to a permission.

Two roles, clear boundaries

Waiters run the floor, managers run the business.

Roles are not a sprawling matrix; they follow how a restaurant actually works. Everyone sees what they need for their job, and nothing more.

Waiter role

Takes orders, fires to the kitchen, splits bills, collects payment. Can't change menu prices, can't open reports, can't close someone else's table without authority.

Manager role

Menu and price changes, end-of-day reports, user management and everything that needs approval. The full view of the business in one role.

Approval authority

Voids, comps and discounts go to the people you authorise. Nobody removes an item from a bill on their own.
Audit trail

Every action has an owner.

Who took the order, who fired it to the kitchen, who collected the payment, who approved the comp. It's all written on the action itself, and at end of day each table reads as one complete record.

This is not about distrusting your team; it's the opposite. When the record is clear there is nothing to argue about: if something is off you find where in minutes, and nobody is under suspicion.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about roles and permissions.

Which roles are there?

dojofood has two core roles: waiter and manager. Waiters run the floor: take orders, fire them to the kitchen, collect payment. Managers additionally control the menu, prices, reports and every action that needs approval.

Who can void, comp or discount?

You decide. These actions route through approval; nobody outside the people you authorise can void, comp or discount on their own.

Can I see who did what?

Yes. Who took the order, who fired it, who collected the payment is recorded. At end of day each table reads as one complete record.

You hold the authority, the system holds the record.
